The Federal Government reserves a paid-up, nonexclusive and irrevocable license to reproduce, publish or otherwise use, and to authorize others to use for federal purposes: i) the copyright in all products developed under the grant, including a subgrant or contract under the grant or subgrant; and ii) any rights of copyright to which the recipient, subrecipient or a contractor purchases ownership under an award (including but not limited to curricula, training models, technical assistance products, and any related materials). Such uses include, but are not limited to, the right to modify and distribute such products worldwide by any means, electronically or otherwise. Federal funds may not be used to pay any royalty or license fee for use of a copyrighted work, or the cost of acquiring by purchase a copyright in a work, where the Department has a license or rights of free use in such work, although they may be used to pay costs for obtaining a copy which is limited to the developer/seller costs of copying and shipping. If revenues are generated through selling products developed with grant funds, including intellectual property, these revenues are program income. Program income must be used in accordance with the provisions of this grant award and 2 CFR 200.307.

Of all new hires in Wyoming in 2018, the vast majority (81.8%) were hired to work in occupations that had no formal educational requirement (50.6%) or required a high school diploma or equivalent (31.2%).

New hires working as truck drivers, heavy & tractor-trailer worked in several industries in Wyoming in 2018, with the greatest numbers found in transportation & warehousing (1,707), mining (485), administrative & support & waste management & remediation services (463), and construction (449).

Wages for a specific occupation may vary by industry. For example, 2018 new hires working as truck drivers, heavy & tractor-trailer in accommodation & food services were paid $25.00 per hour, while those working in manufacturing were paid $16.00 per hour.

The number of hours worked in any given occupation may vary by industry. For example, 100.0% of all new hires working as truck drivers in accommodation & food services worked full-time (36 hours or more per week), compared to 50.0% of new hires working as truck drivers in retail trade.

The demographic make-up of new hires varies by industry. Across all industries, women made up 45.4% of new hires compared to 54.6% for men. In health care & social assistance, women made up 84.3% of new hires and in construction, men accounted for 92.7% of all new hires.

The proportion of women and men working in a given occupation may vary by industry. For example, women accounted for 61.1% of new hires working as cashiers in retail trade, compared to 38.9%. In contrast, men made up 87.5% of all new hires working as cashiers in other services, except public administration.

Table 1 shows turnover rates for selected new hires occupations requiring more than a high school diploma; in this case, turnover rate refers to the percent of new hires no longer working for that employer one quarter after hire. For example, of the 147 new hires working as fire fighters in 2018, 38.3% were no longer working for the employer that hired them one quarter later. The overall turnover rate for 2018 new hires was 20.6%, and the turnover rate for new hires occupations requiring more than a high school diploma was 15.9%. Jobseekers could use this type of information when making decisions on employment or careers.

Table 2: Percent of Employers Who Indicated They Were Unsatisfied with New Hires' Job Skills for Selected Occupations Across All Industries in Wyoming, 2018

The New Hires Survey asks employers whether they were satisfied with the skills of their new hires; this type of information can be useful in identifying potential training needs for employers, educators, and training providers. Table 2 shows 10 selected occupations with relatively high percentages of employers who indicated they were unsatisfied with the skills of their new hires. For example, one in five (20.0%) of employers of cement masons & concrete finishers indicated they were unsatisfied with the new hires' job skills. Across all occupations, just 4.1% of employers indicated they were unsatisfied.
