"Labor Market Information (LMI) is an applied science; it is the systematic collection and analysis of data which describes and predicts the relationship between labor demand and supply." The States' Labor Market Information Review, ICESA, 1995, p. 7.

The Research & Planning (R&P) section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services has published new tables and figures with data from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW). These new tables and figures provide summary employment and wage statistics for Wyoming by county of employment from first quarter 2001 (2001Q1) to the most current quarter; in this case, second quarter 2023 (2023Q2).
This brief article discusses the data that have been made available in these new tables and figures by using Teton County as an example. As shown in Table 1, the average monthly employment in Teton County for 2023Q2 was 22,752, up 4.3% over the year. This marked the ninth consecutive quarter of over-the-year job growth in Teton County. In addition, Teton County had $423.1 million in total wages (up 11.3% over the year) and an average weekly wage of $1,431 (up 6.8%).
The average monthly employment data presented in Table 1 were used to create Figure 1. This figure clearly illustrates the seasonal nature of Teton County's employment, which peaks during the third quarter of each year. Figure 1 also illustrates how employment declined substantially during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic, but has consistently increased since.
