The percentage of workers in Wyoming who are members of unions increased from 7.9% of the total workforce in 2005 to 8.3% in 2006, an increase of roughly 1,500 workers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Meanwhile, the percentage of people represented by unions in the state rose from 9.5% to 10.0% of the total workforce. These are workers who report no union affiliation, but whose jobs are covered by union or association contracts. Nationally, union membership declined from 12.5% in 2005 to 12.0% in 2006.
