TRENDS:
Wyoming's total nonagricultural employment increased slightly from February 1997 to 1998, similar to the growth observed from January 1997 to 1998 (0.8% and 0.7%, respectively). Most of the growth seen in industries such as Construction and Mining is based on short-term projects (e.g., pipeline construction). The unemployment rate increased slightly from 5.5 percent in January 1998 to 5.6% in February 1998 but is still down substantially from 7.0% in February 1997. In other words, economic indicators show that Wyoming's economy still appears to be holding steady. --GCE
