Job Description
Respiratory Therapists assess, treat, and care for patients
with breathing disorders. They assume primary responsibility for all respiratory
care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians.
They initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and
select, assemble, check, and operate equipment.
Requirements
1. Must
be at least 18 years of age.
2. Have
no felony convictions, and no misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude
or controlled substances.
3. Have
graduated from an accredited high school or have completed an equivalent
education.
4. Have
successfully completed a respiratory care educational program which is sponsored
by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
in collaboration with the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CaARC)
or their predecessor or successor organizations.
5. Pass
the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) exam administered by the NBRC.
The board will accept the passing score as established by the NBRC.

Certified Respiratory Therapists must be licensed by the
Wyoming State Board for Respiratory Care.
Examination
The Entry Level CRT Examination is designed to objectively
measure essential knowledge, skills and abilities required of entry level
respiratory therapists. The examination consists of 160 multiple-choice
questions (140 scored items and 20 pretest items) distributed among three major
content areas: clinical data, equipment and therapeutic procedures. Candidates
will be given three hours to complete the Entry Level CRT Examination.
