Job Description
Mine foremen coordinate the activities of employees at all underground and surface mining
operations. The surface certification is optional at this time.
Requirements
1. Must be 23 years of age.
2. Must hold an examiners certification if he or she desires to be certified in a gassy
underground mine.
3. Must have three years experience, of a hands on nature, in the type of mine that he
or she desires to hold a certificate. A mine engineering degree will count for
one year of
experience.
4. Must pass a written and oral examination.
Restrictions
None.
School Located in Wyoming
Review classes are held each year, prior to the examination, at Northern Wyoming College at Gillette and
Western Wyoming
College, Green River Campus.
License
The Wyoming Mining Council
(Department of Employment) issues competency certificates to mine foremen.
Examination
Examination is held each May in Rock Springs and Gillette.
