Job Description
Dispatchers answer and dispatch emergency calls via law enforcement and emergency
tele-communications equipment.
Requirements
Restrictions
Candidates may not have been convicted of a felony.
An extensive background check is done before someone is hired.
Must meet the continuing education hours mandated for recertification. (20 C.E.U.)

Wyoming Law
Enforcement Academy - Douglas
Continuing Education:
These requirements are often done in-house where the dispatcher is employed.
These requirements can also be met by taking approved course work at the
colleges throughout the state or at the Wyoming Law
Enforcement Academy.
License
Dispatchers need to obtain Wyoming Peace Officers
Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification administered by the Wyoming
P.O.S.T. Commission.
Examination
The Communications Personnel basic course is offered twice per year. Contact the
