Job Description
Law Enforcement Officers are responsible for enforcing laws and maintaining order. Their
principal duties are to protect life and property, prevent crimes, investigate complaints
and crimes, apprehend and arrest violators, and assist in their prosecution.
Requirements
1. Must be a United States citizen.
2. Must be of majority age.
3. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
4. Must pass a background investigation.
5. Must be free of physical, medical, and emotional problems.
6. Must pass an oral interview.
7. All Wyoming Peace Officers must attend a Commission-approved academy
for basic training.
Restrictions
Candidates may not have been convicted of felonies nor serious misdemeanors.

License
All Law Enforcement Officers must receive a certification from the Peace Officers Standards and Training
Commission to become certified as Peace Officers.
Examination
Candidates will be expected to pass written, oral, psychological, medical and drug screening. Polygraph testing
and physical agility testing may be performed.
Testing is commenced as positions become available.
