March 1998 TRENDS:

Wyoming's nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 0.7 percent from January 1997 to January 1998. Some of this increase could be due to out-of-state workers coming in to take short-term jobs with special projects in Mining (which increased 5.1%) and Construction (which increased 6.0%). The Wyoming Civilian Labor Force increased by 2,187 workers statewide from last year but decreased by 3,874 since December 1997. Statewide, the total unique UI claimants increased 10.6 percent over the month but fell 24.1 percent over the year. --VAD
