Information submitted to the Department of Workforce Services is kept confidential
under the terms of W.S.S 27-3-603. There are exceptions to this. For example,
W.S.S27-3-607(c)(viii) allows Employer Services to disclose information to agencies
in the executive branch of state or federal government when the information is
necessary for that agency's performance of its official duties. Information may
also be released by Employer Services in statistical form that does not relate the
information to a particular individual or employer. Under W.S.S 27-3-408(c),
Employer Services may provide information from its files to a claimant or employer
to the extent necessary to contest a claim or appeal under the Employment
Security Law. Under Chapter 4 of Employer Services' regulations, the Employer Services may
also release information when authorized in writing by the party that provided
the information to Employer Services and other circumstances stated in the
regulation. These are not all of the exceptions to the confidentiality
provisions of W.S.S27-3-603.
Phishing:
Fraudulent email or phone call with the intent of luring a person to a
fraudulent web site to obtain confidential information from that
person such as passwords, driver's license numbers, Social Security Numbers,
Social Insurance Numbers and bank accounts.
Department of Workforce Services Unemployment Insurance Tax will never
request confidential information via e-mail from our customers or business
partners.
